I like to use colors and styled text to help me understand the structure of the code. I try to create a template which I can modify for re-use. I use a $10 Macintosh shareware program, SimpleText Color Menu, which saves only text files, but adds the colors and other features which I find very helpful.
It looks kind of junky, but for me it is practical. I can cut and paste new information into a form, and check it in the browser for de-bugging and fine tuning. I think it's more fun to do it this way, anyhow. Design = process.
